Annmarie (Knoerl) Dromgoole

Annmarie (Knoerl) Dromgoole, 63, of Clay, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after suffering a stroke earlier in the week. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Edward and Barbara Knoerl, Annmarie was their third child and the only girl, the much-loved sister of four brothers. Annmarie attended Maryvale High School, graduating in 1980. She went on to study Speech/Language Pathology at SUNY Geneseo, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in 1984. She earned her master’s degree from Nazareth College in 1989. Over her long career, Annmarie provided speech and language services to children and adults throughout Oswego and Onondaga counties. She dedicated the majority of her career, however, to working with children in schools, a setting where she hoped she might do the most good. Annmarie served students through ARC of Oswego County, Oswego County BOCES preschool, Fourth Street School, and Fulton Junior High School; she retired in 2018 as a beloved member of the staff at Fairgrieve Elementary School in Fulton. Annmarie also met the love of her life through her work when, one day after a staff meeting, a colleague leaned over with a photo of her brother. A phone call and a date followed, and David and Annmarie hit it off right away. The two were married in Cheektowaga, N.Y., in 1992. Their family grew to include two sons, Ryan in 1995 and Kyle in 2003. Annmarie was a devoted wife and mother, remembered by her boys as a caring, kind, gentle soul. Annmarie was a bright spirit as well, always up for fun. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether it was catching a concert, cheering on the Bills, traveling somewhere beautiful, or just laughing over some good wine and cheese. Annmarie is survived by her husband of 32 years, David; sons, Ryan and Kyle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Janette Knoerl, Timothy and Donna Knoerl, Kevin Knoerl, and Mark Knoerl; in-laws, James and Karin Dromgoole, Thomas and Patricia Dromgoole, Mary Wasilewski, and Michael Dromgoole; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 8229 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, NY. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 8668 County Rt. 57, Baldwinsville, NY. Annmarie was an organ donor.
