Concetta "Connie" (Riviezzo) Sanderson

May 28, 1924 - February 10, 2022

Concetta “Connie” (Riviezzo) Sanderson, 97, of Syracuse, passed away February 10, 2022 at Crouse Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rosina (Mecciarella) Riviezzo. Concetta graduated from Assumption Catholic High School. She retired from NY Telephone/Verizon after 32 dedicated years. Concetta was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, where she served as eucharist minister, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Golden Agers. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, and especially loved entertaining family and friends in her home. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, Willard Sanderson in 1997 and four sisters, Theresa, Anne, Julia, and Kate. Concetta is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Cadin of Syracuse; her son, Willard (Birdie) Sanderson of Black Mountain, NC; three grandchildren: Kristen (David) Gadsden, Colleen Cadin and Lauren Sanderson; two great-grandchildren: Brianna and Maddison Gadsden, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to St. Joseph’s Visiting Nurses, Crouse ICU , the 4th floor doctors and nurses at Crouse Comfort Care, and to her friends and neighbors who allowed mom to live independently in her home all these years. A calling hour will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Church, Court St., Syracuse, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Concetta’s life at 10:30 am at the church.
