George Gianquitti

June 18, 1939 - April 15, 2022

George Gianquitti, 82, peacefully slipped from the bonds of this world to the eternal kingdom surrounded by loved ones on April 15, 2022. George was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, graduating from North High School and attending Syracuse University. His working career centered on the service and betterment of others - from providing systems for improved water quality for agriculture & daily living, to enhanced interior climate control to recycling efforts through his redemption center. Not one to sit idle, George secured employment after retirement at Liverpool Pool & Spa - remaining as a reliable and encouraging team member until early 2020. George was preceded into heaven by his mother, Carmella (Ianunzzi) and his sister, Maryanne (Smith). He was a devoted husband to his wife of nearly 58 years, Catherine (Barilla), beacon of guidance & support to his son Mark of New Orleans; daughter, Suzanne (David) Kick of Marcellus; loving brother to his sister, Lorraine (Andy) Pompo. George was also a proud Papa to Kaylee, Kyra and CC Kick and a loving and supportive uncle, cousin & in-law to 3 generations of a large extended family and a vast array of friends & colleagues. Hardly a day went by in George’s life that he did not affect someone for the better. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on, a confidant, assisting in guiding one to pursuing a path to success or levity to relax or lighten a mood. Those he touched will spread his love, insight, and compassion for generations to come. As the angels lifted you to the New Jerusalem - we believe God greeted you stating, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Heaven’s gain is our loss. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:30 pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of George’s life at 6:30 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
