James M. Epolito

James M. Epolito, 86, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital on May 9, 2022. He was born in Syracuse to the late Rocco and Mary (Nanno) Epolito and later attended LeMoyne College and Syracuse University. Jim worked in the warehouse for Fay’s Drugs and retired from there after many years of dedicated service. A proud U.S. veteran, Jim served in the U.S. Airforce and during the 1970’s, he was the commander of the John Venditti Post. He was also an avid S.U. sports fan. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his children, Rocco Epolito in 1957 and James M. Epolito, Jr. in 1964; his siblings, Joseph Epolito, Angeline Scarfino, Lawrence Epolito, Anita Rose, Rose Tucci, William Epolito, Thomas Epolito, Adeline Liquori, and Agnes Barry Smith; and his best friend Matthew MacCollum. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane (Alan) Holmes; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Ken) Kronenberg and Jeffrey (Michele) Holmes; his great-grandchildren, Ryan M. Vacchiano, Alaina and Dylan Kronenberg, Claire, Anna and Max Holmes; his long-time best friend, Margaret MacCollum; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff on 6 North at Crouse Hospital and Dr. Jordan Wills. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 4 – 6 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse followed by a celebration of Jim’s life at 6:30 pm at the Gathering Place (formerly North Syracuse Baptist Church), 420 S. Main St. North Syracuse. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 am in Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
