Josephine (Spuches) Martino

June 24, 1941 - April 26, 2022

It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Josephine “Jay” Martino, 80, of Cicero, NY on April 26, 2022. She raised 6 children with her former husband, Joseph Martino who predeceased her. Prior to raising her family, she grew up on the family farm in North Syracuse with her parents, James and Mary Spuches, along with her 12 siblings. After raising her family, she went back to work in the Insurance business where she excelled as a district supervisor and enjoyed it till her retirement in 2006. Jay enjoyed her many trips to the casino and family vacations. She was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed watching Syracuse basketball. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and James Spuches; brothers: Joseph, Antonio, Charles, and Mario; sisters: Minnie, Rose and Lucy; sons-in-law, Neil Ford and Rick Allen. Jay is survived by her six children: Cindy Allen of Cicero, Kathy (Bill) Tremble of Pittsfield, MA, Judy Ford, Marcia (Jeff) Reilly, Michelle Swartwood, all of Cicero, NY; and her son, Joe (Gina) Martino of Hamilton, VA; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Sam (Rose) Spuches, Greg Spuches, and John Spuches; two sisters: Mary Cavallaro and Margie Capozzi, and her fur baby Lulu. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Jay’s life at 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church. She will be laid to rest in North Syracuse Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
