Kenneth M. "Kenny" Hines

January 29, 1961 - February 16, 2022

Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Hines, long time Syracuse resident, passed away on February 16, 2022. He was born at Fort Dix Army Hospital in New Egypt, NJ on January 29, 1961, the oldest child of Jack and Maryanne (Griffin) Hines. He is predeceased by his parents and survived by his 6 siblings: Kevin, Keith, Karl, Kathleen, Karen, and Kristin. Kenny was a graduate of Henninger High School class of 1983. He found joy in swimming and was an accomplished swimmer receiving numerous gold medals at the 1978 National Special Olympics. Kenny worked many years for New York State as a custodian for the Syracuse Developmental Center and Gateway Day Habilitation Center. Kenny always took pride in his work and made many friends. He enjoyed music, dancing, Godzilla, and the Power Rangers. Kenny was loved by his family and friends and the sound of his laughter will be missed. Kenny’s family would like to thank all the staff at Academy Place who treated him with kindness and compassion during his last few years. Family and friends will be received from 11 am to 12 pm, immediately followed by a 12:00 Noon funeral service in celebration of Kenny’s life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. His final resting place will be with his parents at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
