Lawrence “Bruce” Crabtree, 86, of Mattydale, passed away Thursday evening, January 27th, 2022. Born June 2, 1935, Bruce lived his life for his family. He was a loving husband, father, and wonderful grandfather known for his tall tales of “The fish that got away”. Bruce worked as a Store Manager for ACME and Peter’s IGA, a Store/Produce Manager for several Big M Markets, and as a Post Standard distributor throughout his life. Bruce was an outdoorsman and was known for his love of gardening, fishing, camping, and could often be found reading next to the pond in his yard. He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence F. and Mary (Cummings) Crabtree, and his bride of 60+ years, Jeanette E. (Dolan) Crabtree. Bruce is survived by their 5 children: Andrew (Eileen) Crabtree of Cicero, David (Marriane) Crabtree of Mattydale, Bill (Misty) Crabtree of Arizona, Lori Poli of Mattydale, and Lawrence (Larry) Crabtree of North Syracuse. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Michael (Erin) Crabtree, Vincent (Julie Heinz) Crabtree, Christopher (Tadd) Crabtree, Danielle Crabtree, Christina Horner (Tom Lau), Jonathan Poli, Kimberly Poli, as well as his great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all who loved him. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all those at the Onondaga Center for their care and support of their dad over the years he was there, we are grateful. Friends and Family may call on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Bruce’s life at 7pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
