August 10, 1930 - July 27, 2021
Louise Assunta (Villani) Marzocchi peacefully left this world to be with our Lord in heaven on July 27, 2021. She was born in Campobasso, Italy, on August 10, 1930. Louise grew up with her mother and brother during WWII, as her father had come to the U.S. prior to the War to provide a new life for his family. Louise was joyfully reunited with her beloved father when the family joined him in the United States in 1949. She became a proud U.S. citizen and worked at Gaylord Company. While attending night school, she met her true love, Pino Marzocchi. They were married in 1955 and raised six children together in a loving, lively, happy home, which was built by Pino next door to Louise’s parents’ house. A devout Catholic, Louise was a parishioner at Our Lady of Pompei Church for over 65 years. She was a member of the Pompeiian Players and the Mother’s Club. Louise was a magical cook, an avid reader, and a poetic writer. She possessed a prolific knowledge of and love for opera. Louise had studied to be a teacher in Italy and realized her calling as a lifelong educator through her vocation as a supremely dedicated wife and mother, bestowing wisdom upon her family members every day. Louise is survived by her adoring children, Dr. Mirella (Dr. Phil Horcher) Marzocchi, John (Michele) Marzocchi, Esq., Dr. Gisella (Dr. Anthony) Mortelliti, Graziella (Gary) Shimer, Zita (Brian) Macdonald, Esq., and Maria (Michael Clark) Marzocchi. Her eleven doting grandchildren have countless fond memories of their dearest Nonna: Dr. Elizabeth (Kevin) Siegler, Christian (Christina) Horcher, John Pino (Katie) Marzocchi, Esq., Matthew Marzocchi, Joseph Mortelliti, Esq., John, Laura and Caroline Mortelliti, Nathan and Rina Shimer and Brian S. Macdonald. Louise’s loving spirit will continue to live on in her two great- grandsons. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nives Marzocchi, nieces and nephews here in the U.S. and other family members in Italy. Louise is predeceased by her beloved husband, Pino, her parents, Paolina and John Villani, brother, Victor Villani and son-in-law, Michael Clark, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law. The family would like to thank Dr. William Berkery for providing Louise with brilliant and compassionate treatment for many years, as well as the wonderful caretakers who devotedly helped Louise every day, with kindness and friendship, until the end. Louise was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, whose adoring heart knew no bounds. She was deeply caring, extremely strong, keenly intelligent and truly selfless; a pillar of goodness like no other. Louise’s devotion to God and family was unparalleled. All who knew her were drawn to her spiritual nature and could feel the love she exuded to everyone. Not only did Louise nourish her family with divine food, she also filled them with deep-seeded faith and fed them sage advice. Her family members will live on in the abundant blessings she bestowed upon them until the day they may be held in Louise’s loving arms once more, in heaven. Louise’s life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Louise may be made to Cathedral at Pompei Academy, https://capsyracuse.org.
