Mary C. "Rose" Barraco

August 24, 1945 - February 10, 2022

Mary C. “Rose” (Licitra) Barraco, 76, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse to the late John and Mary (Lomonaco) Licitra and graduated from North High School. Rose worked tirelessly, contributing her various skills to grow the family businesses, Holiday Ice Cream Co., and Holiday Ice Co. She was an exceptional cook and took great pride in caring for her family and 15 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Rose is predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmen (Rose), Rosario (Ruth) and Frank Licitra; her stepmother, Katie Licitra and her niece, Mary Ellen Kostun. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Anthony J. Barraco, Sr.; her children, Anthony J. (Mary) Barraco, Jr., Maria (Paul) Lorenzo, Steven (Jessica) Barraco, Salvatore (Sarah) Barraco and Theresa (Michael) Cummings; grandchildren, Anthony III, Johnathon, Joseph, Matthew, Nicholas, Marianna, Michael, Rocco, Christina, Jillian, Audrianna, Nina, Franco, Michael, and Samuel; her beloved dog, “Pepper” that was always by her side; brother-in-law, Nicola Barraco of Italy; sister-in-law, Susana Crimi of Syracuse; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the friends and nurses who cared for Rose during the past months. Calling hours will take place from 4 – 7 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Rose’s life at 10 am in Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, DeWitt. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st St. Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131, or Humane Society of CNY, 4915 W. Taft Rd. Liverpool, NY 13088.
