Patricia (Bowman) Russo

September 26, 1947 - January 19, 2022

Patricia (Bowman) Russo, 74, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born in Syracuse to the late Francis and Mary Ellen (McCormick) Bowman. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. Patty grew up on the North Side of Syracuse and was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. She was the tenth of 12 children and graduated from St. Vincent’s DePaul High School. She married her high school sweetheart on her birthday in 1970 and shared the next 51 years together. They raised two children who, guided by her love, devotion, and wisdom, would grow up to become an attorney and cardio thoracic surgeon. Her impact on their lives is immeasurable and the lessons she instilled in them will live forever. Patty’s occupation could only be described as a professional Mom. It did not matter who you were, she was willing to do whatever she could to help or simply put a smile on your face. Most of her children’s friends were made to feel as if they were also part of her family. She would never turn down an opportunity to bring family and friends together in celebration. She was an amazing cook, shopper, and craft maker. In the last 11 years of her life, she was given the joy of becoming Gammy/Grandma to three beautiful grandchildren. They were the light of her life. Her love and devotion to them was unparalleled and will forever live in their hearts. Her home is adorned with their photos, school drawings, and other mementos so she could not move to a single room of the house without them being reminded of them. Patty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. She made everyone better and was always there in time of need. She had an ability to make your problems hers and would not stop until everything was better again. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, John, Thomas, Robert, Richard and Joseph Bowman and her sisters, Marianne Krupka, Margaret Hurder, and Kathryn Murphy. Patricia is survived by her husband, Joseph Russo; her children, Amy (Brian) Renna and Mark (Karrie) Russo; grandchildren, Emma, Mia and Luca, siblings, Francis and Michael Bowman and Theresa Bowman Smith; brother-in-law Andrew (Lori) Russo and sister-in-law Paula (Garrett) Prindle along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be private for family only. A funeral mass in celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 24, 2022, in Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse, 13207. A private entombment will be held at the family mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave. Syracuse, NY 13208, or Lemoyne College c/o Russo Family Scholarship Fund, 1419 Salt Springs Rd. Syracuse, NY 13214.
