Jason Daniel Kowalczyk

We sadly lost a most beloved husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, mentor and colleague when Jason Daniel Kowalczyk passed away August 27, 2024. At 50 years old, he was taken from us too soon. He was “that” guy. The one who could build or fix anything. The one who literally showed up…always. Whether it was something that needed fixing, something that needed to be built, a shoulder needed to cry on, if you needed help, he was there. Always searching to learn, he could take apart, or purposely break, any piece of equipment just to understand how it works and how to put it back together again. He had a true passion for knowing how everything works. He was then more than pleased to educate everyone about his newfound knowledge – even if none of us fully understood what he was explaining. His intellect surpassed us all. Alix always knew where he’d been by the trail of equipment, wires, various mechanical parts and pieces of whatever he was working on at the time. Jason had a knack for coming up with unique solutions to any problem, small or large. Leaf blowing his father’s car when he was a kid to clean the inside in the fastest, most efficient way, was just a start to this life-honed skill. Hosting “secret” parties, complete with bands hidden in the woods on Irish Road in Marcy was another. He nearly made the 46’er club hiking the high peaks in the Adirondacks as an Eagle Scout. When he wasn’t saving his clients from IT catastrophes or building networks so sizeable and hack proof to avoid catastrophe, Jason spent his free time in snow country with his wife, Alix and their friends snowmobiling, enjoying bonfires, four wheeling in the woods on Tug Hill and hosting their annual Shootout. Jason spent twenty years representing Lewis County snowmobile clubs as a Director for the NY State Snowmobile Association and was the biggest advocate for the Tug Hill region, as well as furthering the sport of snowmobiling in New York. Snowmobiling lost a giant. To put it more simply, Jason leaves an incredible legacy. His quick sense of humor, jolly nature and kindness in his soul made everyone who’s life he touched feel protected and thankful for him. He adored his wife, Alix, with his whole heart and will forever be an angel on her shoulder. In addition to Alix, Jason is survived by his parents, Ronald and Janet Kowalczyk; brothers, Brian (Wendy) Kowalczyk, and Michael (Vanessa) Kowalczyk; brothers-in-law, Campbell (Allyson) Knox, Ian (Anna) Knox and Colin (Robin) Knox and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY 13212.
