Antoinette Catherine (Sindoni) Pitonzo

Antoinette Catherine (Sindoni) Pitonzo, 92, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital. Anne proudly retired from the heavy military division of General Electric after 25 years of service. During her tenure there, she received many awards for her hard work and business improvement suggestions. She loved cooking for her family, especially for the holidays. Anne loved Syracuse University sports and would hardly ever miss watching a game on television. As her family grew, she delighted in attending her grandchildren’s various activities and sporting events. Anne was particularly proud of her Italian heritage including her extended family. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the annual Italian Festival. She also spent countless hours volunteering for various social and sporting events for the booster club at Christian Brothers Academy. Following her retirement, Anne remained very active as she loved to dance and also volunteered as an usher for events at both the Landmark Theatre and the Onondaga County Civic Center. In addition, she was a member the Sindoni-Mento-Zeppetello Cousins’ Club which consisted of her maternal cousins which met monthly for more than forty years. Anne was very proud of St. Daniel’s church in Lyncourt and remained a communicant for over 50 years. Antoinette was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1967; her brothers, Joseph Sindoni and Paul Sindoni; sisters, Josephine Nicoletti, Genevieve Vavonese, Santina Sindoni, and Angeline Lamanna. Antoinette is survived by her loving children including Joseph (Barbara) Pitonzo of Tucson, Arizona, Maria (Timothy) Heath of Liverpool, Catherine Pitonzo of Redondo Beach, California, and Mark (Renee) Pitonzo of Manlius. Also surviving her are 10 grandchildren: Alan Schnier, Sian Pitonzo, Nicole (Wade) Heath, Stefanie (Mike) Heath, Jamie (Wanie) Heath, Matthew (Katie) Heath, Alyssa Pitonzo, Olivia Pitonzo, Gabriela Shy, and Joseph Shy; 5 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Ayla, Kaeden, Aria, and Ellowyn; sister–in-law, Sue Sindoni; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Upstate University Hospital for their compassionate care and encouragement during her stay there. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Antoinette' life at 10:00 AM in St. Daniel’s Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Daniel’s Church, Christian Brothers Academy, Make-A-Wish Foundation of CNY, or the Humane Society (Farm Sanctuary) of the U.S.
