Jamie W. Nestor

Jamie W. Nestor, 73, of Westvale, passed away at home on June 21, 2024. He was born in Syracuse to the late John and Helen (Bugaj) Nestor. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Eric Nestor and in-laws, Robert J. and Anne E. Mader as well as his sister-in-law, Jeanne Anne Mader. Jamie is survived by his wife, Lorraine “Lorry” Nestor, as well as their daughters, Emily Jeanne and Sara Healy Nestor. He is also survived by his niece and godchild, Kristen Nestor; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John L. and Mary Ellen Annesi, and their children, Natalie M. Annesi (Lt. Col. Christopher D. Goren) John N. Annesi and Michael A. Annesi; great-nephews and great-nieces, Christopher, Elena, Anastasia, Lucia, and Gabriel Goren, and many cousins. Jamie retired in 2014 from the Civil Division of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department. He was known for his love of music, especially The Beatles. He was an accomplished bowler and secretary of two leagues, one at the Pastime Athletic Club where he was a 25-year member and the Lakeview Recreation Center. He was an avid golfer and participated in various golf leagues in the area until he retired from the Federal Men’s Golf League in 2021 at Radisson. Jamie also participated in several slow-pitch softball leagues as pitcher and managed the Hardy Construction Softball Team winning the All-Syracuse City Championship in 1989. Through softball, he met his wife, Lorry. Jamie was a life-long fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers from the time they were in Brooklyn. He was finally able to fulfill his bucket list in 2023 when he traveled with his wife and daughter to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to see them play. Jamie will be remembered as a true gentleman, a quiet man, a sweet husband, and a great father. A special thanks to Carol Cooper for her kind and compassionate care given to Jamie throughout his final weeks. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024 in Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. He will be laid to rest privately at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jamie’s name to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or Assumption Church, 812 N.
