Kathryn M. (Marsallo) D'Agata

Kathryn M. (Marsallo) D'Agata, 79, of North Syracuse, affectionately known as "CooCoo" by her 5 grandchildren, as well as "Kate the animal" by her husband and Kathy/Kate by many friends and family passed away with her loving husband of 55 years by her side, in Sarasota, FL on December 10, 2024, after a brief illness. Kathy was born on Christmas day in 1944, in Syracuse, to Florin George and Louise Ann (Galuppi) Marsallo. She missed her 80th birthday by a few weeks. Kathy graduated from St. Vincents High School in 1962 and attended CCBI business school. After getting married on July 12, 1969, she became a homemaker and then helped in the office at the family business, Fremac Marine. She spent her summers in TI Park, on Wellesley Island and more recently her winters in Sarasota, FL on Turtle Beach. CooCoo loved to shop, gamble and bake; she loved to wear sparkles and all her gold jewelry. Kathy loved to read and knit her perfectly imperfect blankets on the porch in TI Park. She was an avid SU fan and loved to follow NY sports. Kathy traveled to all her son's basketball games during high school and college, always bringing the best snacks for everyone. She loved to follow her grandchildren's sports and although technologically challenged, she often managed to stream many of their games. So much could be said of Kathy, the main thing about her was her love of life; she could make anything fun, she lit up a room and made everyone feel welcome and loved. She was a great cook and an amazing person. The world will not be the same without her and her truly loveable and free spirit; nothing ever bothered her and she could always find the positive in any situation. We laughed with her and at her, but as long as everyone was happy, she never minded it. Kathy had fun with life, never took things too seriously and her motto was, "oh well, have a cookie, it will make you feel better"! Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Dominick D'Agata and some very close cousins and friends. Kathy is survived by her husband, Francis A. (Monk) D'Agata; her son, Francis II (Tina) and their 2 sons, Michael and AJ of Syracuse; her daughter, Marianne (James III) Wheeler and their 3 children, James IV, Cora and Gabriel of Oneida; her 2 brothers, Anthony of Syracuse and Michael (Celene) of Herndon, VA; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. We would like to thank them for all the love and support they have given us, especially "Sweetheart". A special thank you to Dr. Tom Grady for taking such good care of her over the years since her heart surgery in 2009. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY., immediately followed by a gathering at the Pastimes Club in Syracuse.
