Kristin M. Sunser-King

Kristin M. Sunser-King, 64 of Lakeland, passed away surrounded by her loving husband and son on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY after a long illness. She was a life resident of the Lakeland area of Syracuse. Born in Syracuse on April 20, 1961, to the late Joseph Sunser and Patrina (Greco) Sunser. Kristin graduated from Solvay High School in 1979. She then attended Syracuse University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing & Business Law in 1982; followed by a Juris Doctorate from the School of Law in 1986. Kristin was a practicing attorney up to the time of her death. Most recently she was employed by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a Lead General Attorney. Previously, she worked as an Attorney in private practice, and as a Deputy Onondaga County Attorney. Kristin exhibited a very kind and generous display of love towards her nieces and nephews. Before poor health deprived Kristin of her youthful exuberance, she enjoyed travel and fun activities with family and friends. When her son was younger, trips to the Herkimer Diamond Mines, frequenting many Northeast Amusement Parks and even a cross-country car trip to California with her niece was never too much for her. Kristin had a love of the Maine and New Hampshire coastline and thoroughly enjoyed visits to relatives in that area as a child, and in more recent times with her husband and son. One of Kristin’s passions was anything Disney. She especially enjoyed not only visiting Disney World, but also the Disney Cruise Lines and collecting Disney pins. Playing a round of Bingo at the Turning Stone Casino was always an uplifting event, never stopping her during times of uncertain health. She was a fervent contributor to the Solvay School District, not only involved in numerous PTO activities, but serving in more recent times as the past President of the Solvay Union-Free School District Board of Education, resigning in 2024. Kristin is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Norbert; and her beloved son Joseph; and endearing Goddaughters Stephanie and Diana. She is also survived by several sisters and brothers-in-law: nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins and many friends. A funeral Mass in celebration of Kristin’s life will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 9:30 A.M. at St. Marianne Cope at Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb Street, Syracuse. Burial will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR, FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), Syracuse, NY 13212. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kristin's memory may be made to the Solvay Dollars for Scholars 400 Spencer Street Syracuse, NY 13204.
