Malvina J. Bolognone

Malvina J. Bolognone was born May 4th, 1918, and passed away peacefully on July 26, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse after a short illness. She was 98. Malvina was predeceased by her loving husband Dennis, and six brothers and sisters; she leaves behind her loving sons, Gary and Joseph Bolognone; five grandchildren, Aaron, Michael (Valerie), Joey (Jaime), Gina and David; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. She did not leave behind her recipe for meatballs, having never written it down. Sadly, that secret passes with her. But she had the blessing of having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her room and by her side shortly before her passing. Malvina was born in Syracuse, NY where she graduated from North High School. She later graduated from CCBI where she mastered office and secretarial skills. She was amazingly good at her shorthand well into her 90’s. Her first job was with Brace Mueller Huntley. She married her husband Dennis in 1950, who was her loving companion until his death in 1987. After having children, she continued to work part-time at Burns Supply on West Genesee Street. When they were older, she took a full-time office job at Crucible Steel, where she worked until she retired in 1986. She was a communicant of Our lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where she volunteered early with the Mother’s Club, and later with the charismatic prayer group’s outreaches, Bible studies and prayer meetings. She was also an officer with The Veterans’ Helping Hands, and was well known for visiting shut-ins until she was no longer able to drive. Malvina was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, famous for making family meals on Sundays and holidays, attending family recitals, performances and athletic events. She always put others’ interests before her own. She was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved to laugh and make others happy. She was quick to invite people to pray for any and every need, and receive Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. She never hesitated. She loved to travel; she would drive any distance to go to Bingo, and had a contagious smile. Her family is blessed by her legacy, and by the knowledge that she has gone to be with the Savior she served her whole life. Malvina will be greatly missed. Family and friends may call on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM, followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Malvina’s life at 6:30 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Assumption Cemetery.
