Mary Lou (Galli) Moodie

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Moodie, age 86, on August 27, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, SC. She departed this world peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a life filled with grace, kindness, and joy. Born on November 16, 1938, in Syracuse, NY, to Joseph and Rose Galli, Mary Lou was known for her compassion, warmth, and her remarkable ability to make others feel truly cared for. In 1968, she married her best dance partner, Bruce, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Mary Lou was the proud mother of two daughters, Nancy and Karen, who will always remember her as their greatest supporter and a source of unconditional love. She also cherished being “Nana” to her granddaughter, Catherine, and grandson, Conner, whose lives she filled with endless affection. For many years, Mary Lou worked in the school cafeterias at Christian Brothers Academy and Our Lady of Pompei, where she greeted countless children with kindness and a warm smile. Outside of work, she found joy in gardening, listening to her favorite music, and sharing dinners with friends. Her home was always open, with fresh pastries and hot coffee ready for any guest who stopped by. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce; and her sisters, Phyllis DelPriore and Barbara Jean Brown. Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Nancy Curtis (Ian) and Karen Colella (Joseph); her granddaughter, Catherine Curtis; her grandson, Conner DeSaussure; her sister, Jeanette Lietzke; and beloved nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 10 am – 11 am, immediately followed by a funeral service at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to CNY SPCA at www.cnyspca.org/donate, honoring her lifelong love for dogs. Though our hearts are heavy, Mary Lou will be remembered for the way she made every holiday feel magical, her warm hugs, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
