Robert R. Foley

Robert R Foley, 83, of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Bob was born in Syracuse to the late John and Barbara (Fumich) Foley. He was a graduate of St Lucy’s Academy and attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He served in the Army National Guard and retired from US Postal Service. Bob wed the former Dolores Sedor in 1964. They were married for 52 years upon her passing in 2016. Along with his wife, he went on over 25 cruises with family and friends. A lifelong NY Yankees fan, he traveled to many games with his cousins, who were like brothers to him. He was an avid fan of SU sports. He was a fixture at his grandchildren’s sporting events always keeping stats in his head and providing quiet support. Bob kept family and friends laughing with his dry sense of humor and one liners at just the right moment. His high school yearbook described him as a “straight-faced comedian.” He also single-handedly kept Hershey’s in business with his love of chocolate. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by his son Brian Joseph Foley, his brothers John and George Foley, and his sisters-in-law Ann Sedor and Ruth Foley. Bob is survived by his three sons, Mark (Deirdre O’Hara) Foley of Camillus, Michael (Deborah) Foley of Liverpool, and Steven (Sarah) Foley of Camillus; his daughter, Sara Foley LaValle of Camillus; ten grandchildren Brian (Laela Touvell) and Joseph LaValle, Joshua, Lauren, Alexandra, and Connor Foley, Madison and Ryan Payne, and Ashley and Justin Williams; his cousins John and James (Rosalie) McMahon; his nieces Ann-Marie Sedor (Andrew Lipchak), Carolyn (Michael) Kenyon, and Mary (Ryan) Carlisle; his nephew Kevin Foley; and his brother-in-law Robert Sedor. A funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 S. Main St. North Syracuse. Internment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY 13212.
