Adelle C. Porter's Obituary
Adelle C. Porter, 81, of Syracuse, completed her life on Earth Monday, March 21, 2016 at Crouse Hospital. Born April 3, 1934 to Clarence Adams and Nancy Calloway in Opelika, Alabama; she was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Adelle resided in Syracuse and retired from Hutchings Psychiatric Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Freddie Ruth Donovan; her granddaughter, Yolanda Harris; four brothers, Willie Frank Foster, William Taylor, Jonny B. and Alfred Calloway; two sisters, Emma Jean Taylor and Ethel Mae Foster.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her two sons, Benny Perkins of Charleston, SC and Gregory Kinnon, Sr. of Syracuse; her sister, Nellie Faye Calloway of Queens, NY; two brothers, David Lee Foster of Opelika, AL and James Bruce Calloway of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, Wayne and Desire Porter, Monica Donovan, Dudley Harris, all of Syracuse; Bilisa Perkins of Raleigh, NC, Gregory Kinnon, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL., Delvonn Kinnon, Jasmine Kinnon, both of Cincinnati, OH; Teirra Perkins and Teyako Woods, both of Charleston, SC, and Jason Spears of Syracuse; sister-in-law, Catherine Taylor of Opelika, AL; her special friend, Terry Jones; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church, 104 Elizabeth St., Syracuse with a funeral service in celebration of Adelle’s life to follow at noon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
