Albert "Al" Joseph Fiumara's Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Albert “AL” Joseph Fiumara, age 76, of Onondaga Hill. Al passed away peacefully Friday morning April 12, 2019 at Upstate Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. There will be a Celebration of his life party announced at a later date.
Al leaves behind his loving and devoted, companion of over 35 years, Laurie Lozo and daughter, Erika Lozo-Fiumara; daughter, Kimberly Fiumara-Dygert (husband Jeff) his son, Greggory Fiumara; eight grandchildren: Marissa Smithler, Derek Smithler, Nicole Smithler, Adam Falter Jr., Karisa Fiumara, Alysa Fiumara, Trisha Fiumara, and Savannah Dygert; one great- granddaughter, Raven Smithler, also his former wife, Shirley Fiumara-Quinn and her family whom he remained close friends with. Al also leaves behind two brothers, Nicholes Fiumara, John Fiumara (wife Debbie); two sisters, Tina Zukowski, and Annette Grosso (husband Tony); a niece and several nephews, Alexis Grosso, John Fiumara, Joesph Fiumara, Steven Files and Rob Zukowski.
He was predeceased by his parents, Angeline and Albert Fiumara; his brother, Joseph Fiumara, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Fiumara.
Al was accomplished at many things. He owned multiple businesses over the years, DA Motors, VIP Limousine service, and Dunn’s Rust Proofing; he had one of the first indoor auto auctions in the CNY area. He owned and operated Jim’s Diner along with multiple hot dog carts back in the 80’s, he also installed cell phones back in their early days when they were permanent installs. He was always diversified in his endeavors - He could fix anything! After retirement, he became a baker and cook to occupy his time and was he ever good at it! He taught his family his secrets to carry on his legacy. His Kielbasa, various sausages and home-made breads were legendary. He also made many other goodies that he loved sharing with family and friends.
He loved his family passionately and held friends close to his heart! He cherished oldies music and classic cars, and in his younger years, he loved drag racing!
Al, you will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved you and you will forever be in our hearts!! We know you are baking bread, making kielbasa, looking over us all and driving in the fast lane in the heavens above.
