Albert P. Balestra's Obituary
Albert P. Balestra, 97, devoted husband, and father, passed away peacefully, on October 2, 2024. He was born to the late Felix, and Jean (Compatella) Balestra, and grew up in Syracuse. Albert was happily married to Ida Nicotra for 70 years. They enjoyed traveling extensively and loved life together. Albert was an avid fisherman, and a league bowler. He was a WWII veteran, U.S. Navy, Seaman Second Class. Albert’s career with Allied Chemical Corporation spanned 42 years, retiring as Plant Manager of Operations.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ida, and son, Robert Balestra. Albert is survived by his children, Felix, Jean, and Linda Balestra (Timothy Maroney); along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Albert’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 7, 2024 at St. Cecilia’s Church, 1001 Woods Road, Solvay, NY. The family will greet guests beginning at 10:30 am at the church. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse.
