Albert J. Capria's Obituary
Albert J. Capria, 81, of Cicero, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2023. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Cimini) Capria. Albert was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Carrier Corp. as a machinist and member of Sheetmetal Union Local 527. After retirement, Albert continued working as a bus driver for various touring companies. Al was an avid hunter and loved spending time with family and friends at his camp. He enjoyed cooking and making his annual loaves of Easter Bread. Albert enjoyed working on classic cars and showing them. He volunteered at Clear Path for Veterans. Albert and Dorothy enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach and Florida. Most importantly, Al loved caring for his family and helping with whatever was needed.
He was predeceased by his brother, Pasquale Capria, Jr.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Rowe) Capria; two sons, David (Theresa) Capria and Gregory (Elsa) Capria; his daughter, Jennifer (Thomas) Newton; five grandchildren, Anna, Heidi, Allison, Lilly and Tommy; his brother, Dennis (Theresa) Capria; his sister, Carmella (Walter) Krupnak, along with several nieces and nephews.
We are thankful for the care given by the nursing staff at Upstate Medical Neuro ICU and MICU units.
A funeral service in celebration of Albert’s life will be held at 8:30 am on Friday, August 4, 2023 in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at Epiphany Parish at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Liverpool. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
