Angelo Carl Barnello, Sr.'s Obituary
Angelo Carl Barnello, Sr.,101, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 4, 1924, to the late Giacomo and Marie (Orient) Barnello.
Angelo lived a long and meaningful life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and commitment to his community. A proud United States Marine, Angelo honorably served during World War II. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 25 years as an electrician at the Veterans Administration, where he was respected for his hard work, reliability, and craftsmanship. Angelo was also a dedicated member of American Legion Post #1650, where he proudly served as a former Commander. His patriotism, leadership, and lifelong support of his fellow veterans left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria with whom he shared almost 65 wonderful years of marriage, and by his daughter, Mary Holcomb.
Angelo is survived by his loving children; Giacomo (Beth) Barnello, Anne (Terry) Andry, Angela Leggett, Anthony (Dawn) Barnello, and Angelo (Marie) Barnello; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy of strength, loyalty, and love.
Angelo will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and deep sense of honor. His life was a blessing, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd, Syracuse, NY 13215.
