Anna M. (Episcopo) Smith's Obituary
Anna M. (Episcopo) Smith, 89, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Syracuse Home Association. Born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Battista and Angeline (Pastore) Episcopo, Anna was a teaching assistant for special needs children in the Syracuse City School District for 28 years. Family and the Catholic faith meant everything to Anna, she was a longtime communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. She loved her traditional, big, Italian family, especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as often as she could.
In addition to her parents, Anna is predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Smith, Sr.; and her two brothers, Rocco, and John Episcopo.
Anna is survived by her two children, Robert (Dawn) Smith, Jr., and Mimi (John) Hogan; two granddaughters, Korrina (Corbin) Stewert, and Emily Ann Hogan; two great-granddaughters, Nora, and Reese Stewert; her brother, Dominick (Sharon) Episcopo; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A calling hour will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 9:45 – 10:45 A.M. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, immediately followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in the church, 301 Ash St. Syracuse. Anna will be laid to rest beside her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caring nurses and staff at the Syracuse Home Association for their exceptional care and attention given to Anna during her time there.
