Annabelle M. "Ann" (Smaciak) Donati's Obituary
Annabelle M. Donati, 94, of Camillus, devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at home on Sunday, July 30, 2023. She was born in Syracuse, where she had lived most of her life. Ann was a full-time, stay-at-home mother and a manager at Royal Insurance later in life. In addition to her successful homemaking and insurance career, she had many other accomplishments that include talented seamstress, avid gardener, gourmet cook and baker, embroiderer, furniture refinisher and crochet artist. Later in life, Ann’s love of children led her to start crocheting winter hats for underprivileged and ill children. During the last ten years of her life, Ann crocheted thousands of hats for children in 3 different states. The recipients of her crochet workmanship were schools, churches and the nationally recognized Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Ann’s selfless benevolent spirit touched the lives of her family members, friends, and countless needy children. She will be forever remembered for her lifelong kindness and generous heart.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Francis “Frank” Donati in July 2010.
Ann is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Donati of Cleveland, Ohio, and Diane (Domenic M.) Mazza of LaFayette; two sons, Joseph Donati of Syracuse, and Lawrence Donati of Camillus; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Annabelle’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus. She will be privately laid to rest with her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.
