Anne Toscano's Obituary
Anne Toscano, 99, passed away peacefully on Friday, surrounded by her loving family. Anne was a graduate of North High School. She was a strong independent woman for her era. She received her business degree, and worked for many years at Sylvania GTE, as an Accounting Supervisor, enjoying a very successful career which was very challenging for her time, all while helping care for both of her parents. Many of Anne’s favorite memories were with her family in our large home on Highland St. which was the meeting place and heart of our family. She was exquisite, and the most elegant and gracious host. She was very proud of her father’s Italian heritage and her mother’s history of living in the town of Newcomb, on Newcomb Lake. She loved dogs, cats, and entertaining; just having everyone together. Keeping everyone close meant so much to her. She loved to dance and sing. She kept in shape walking. She was witty, had a wonderful sense of humor, and never said a bad thing about anyone. Anne was a devout Catholic regularly attending St. John’s Roman Catholic Church and St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and attended mass regularly where she last resided at Buckley Landing.
She was predeceased by her parents, Florence Newcomb and Peter Toscano; her brothers, Anthony, Herbert and Peter; and her sister, Emily Toscano DonVito.
Anne is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carolyn Toscano Mangicaro (John) and their daughter Gianna; Barbara Toscano Bonzerato and children; Sharon Toscano and children; James (Donna) Toscano and their children; Judith Toscano Borio (Joseph) and their children; Robert Toscano; Anthony (Nancy) Toscano and their children.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 9 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei / St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
