Anthony J. Barnell's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony J. Barnell, 79, at home surrounded by his loving family on October 28, 2020. Born to the late Anthony J. and Edith (Trovato) Barnell, he was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Anthony was a graduate of Eastwood High School and studied at University College. Anthony served his country in the Air National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. He received the Meritorious Service Medal for his performance, dedication, and duty during that time.
Anthony began his career in the plastics industry with Syracuse Plastics as Production Manager. He also worked at Arrowhead Plastics as a Corporate Manager of Operations before starting his own company supplying plastic raw materials to various manufacturers in the U.S. and Mexico. During his career he was recognized as an up and coming entrepreneur. He also served as the President of the Society of Plastic Engineers.
Along with his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Michael Braia.
Anthony is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Donnajean (Palozzola) Barnell; sons, Brian A. (Sarah) Barnell, Jason J. (Tabitha) Barnell; his beloved and cherished granddaughters, Amanda, Adriana, and Alexandra Barnell; sisters, Eleanor Braia, Marie (John) Ariola; along with many faithful family members and friends.
Nino will be forever missed and always be remembered for his smile, wit, generosity, and “creating memories” at wonderful family gatherings and dinners with his loved ones.
His family would like to express sincere appreciation to his dedicated doctors and nurses, Dr. Peter Christiano, Dr. Russell Silverman, and Dr. M. Chaffin for their compassionate and vigilant care over the years.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held for immediate family, Anthony will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to THOMAS J. PIRRO FUNERAL HOME.
