Anthony J. Bennie's Obituary
Anthony J. Bennie, 91, of Solvay, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late John and Irene (Palumb) Bennie. Anthony was a WWII US Army Air Force veteran, and a member of the Solvay-Geddes Veterans and Lions Club. He worked for over 40 years at Crouse Hinds/Cooper Industries and later for JPW Fabricators, finally retiring at the age of 80. Anthony was an avid NY Yankees fan.
Anthony was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 45 years, Concetta (Ciarla) Bennie who passed away in 1992; he was also predeceased by his brother, Lewis Bennie.
Anthony is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Bellotti and Deborah (Jerry) Casertano; grandchildren, Daniel M. (Lauren) Bellotti, Andrea (Rob) Hunt, Jennifer (Mike) Goodnow and Jessica Casertano (Joe DeGennaro); great-grandchildren, Nolan and Emerson Bellotti, Avery and Ella Hunt, Griffin and Evan Goodnow; his brother, John “Nick” Bennie; sisters, Mary DeSocio, Dorothy Tuori, Shirley Wylde and Eleanor Tassone; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and longtime friend, Dolores Dippold.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 am on Friday, July 20, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Anthony’s life at 9:30 am in St. Cecilia’s Church, Solvay. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
