Anthony M. Bersani's Obituary
Anthony M. Bersani, 87, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday. Born in Syracuse, Anthony graduated from North High School and was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church as well as an Usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a WWII Navy veteran, and upon his return, he opened a small store named the “PX”. Tony spent several of his younger years cooking at Bersani’s Restaurant. Tony retired from Carrier Corporation after 37 years as a scheduler. Tony was an avid SU Orange, New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was interested in music, singing in various groups, playing piano and cello. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Philomena E. (Pullano) Bersani in 2011and his brother, Richard Bersani. Tony is survived by his 4 children, Edward A. (Cindy) Bersani of Syracuse, Thomas R. (Angela) Bersani of Liverpool, Anne (Michael) Bosco of Syracuse and Camille (Marc) Donabella of Cicero; 9 grandchildren, Thomas (Ann) Bersani, Joseph (Shelby King) Bersani, Anthony Bersani (Jennifer), Michael Bersani, Kayla Bosco, Gianna Bersani, Genna Bersani, Mia Bersani and Lily Donabella; 4 great grandchildren, Corina,Santino, Arabella and Samuel; his sister, Dolores DiBello of Cicero, Brother-in-law Richard (Marie) Pullano of Syracuse; sister-in-law, Jane Pullano of Liverpool; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 8:30 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY and 9:30AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7PM. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual on Wednesday at 3:30PM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home.
