Anthony P. Cordone's Obituary
Anthony P. (Tony) Cordone, 95, of Port Richey, FL passed away Friday at Stratford Court Skilled Nursing Facility, Boca Raton, FL. Born in Syracuse, NY, Tony lived in North Syracuse, NY for 50 years. He graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1934. Tony was Chief Inspector at Rollway Bearing International, Syracuse, NY for 40 years, before retiring in 1981. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 in European-African Theater and campaign in North Apennines, Po River, Italy. Tony was a long-time member and past President of American Legion Post 188, Liverpool NY; supporter of Veterans of Foreign Wars and member of 88th Infantry Division Association “Blue Devils”. Tony was a devoted husband, father and brother who lived his life in total service to his family. His patriotism to his nation was evident by his high-flying flags at each of his residences. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. (DeStefano) Cordone, 2002; daughter, Linda (Cordone) Melfi, 2011; his parents, Saverio Cordone and Josephine (Carozza) Cordone; his brother, Dominick Cordone; his two sisters, Concetta (Cordone) Salerno and Rose Mary (Cordone) Brennan; his two nephews, James Salerno and Leonard G. Cordone. Tony is survived by his children, Josephine Cordone of Boca Raton, FL; Anthony S. Cordone of Port Richey, FL.; Michele (Cordone) Johnson of Danville, CA and Mark J. Cordone (Carol) of San Ramon, CA; grandchildren, Sara (Johnson) Moran (Stephen) of Danville, CA; Clark Johnson Jr. of Walnut Creek, CA; Elizabeth Cordone of San Francisco, CA; Steven A. Melfi of North Syracuse, NY; Nicole Cordone of San Diego, CA and Danielle Cordone of San Ramon, CA; great-grandchildren, Skylar Moran & Scarlet Moran; brothers, Leonard Cordone and Joseph Cordone, both of East Syracuse, NY; nieces, Barbara Rogalski Sorbello, Laurie Brennan, Joanne Cordone Mroczyk and Colleen Brennan; nephews, Lawrence (Larry) Cordone, Leslie Cordone, Dominick Cordone, Scott Brennan, Patrick Brennan and Sean Brennan; also ten surviving great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 VICKERY RD. (CORNER OF BUCKLEY RD.) N. SYRACUSE, NY on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13208 in his memory and the memory of his daughter, Linda (Cordone) Melfi.
