The memories of my Uncle Tony are forever in my heart. Hunting season at his house packaging all the deer meat with my mom and Aunt Barb, him squeezing my cheeks on my face still it hurt, giving me the special 5 dollar bills when no one was looking, saying my name Sandra with power and enthusiasm, crazy jokes/stories he would tell me but my favorite is the trouble we would cause together at the lake house family reunion when I was younger. Uncle Tony was a major personality in our family, and a big part of some of my dearest memories growing up.
As a young kid when he arrived at a gathering we were expected to go shake his hand, and every time he would squeeze it hard and demand that you looked him in the eyes. This was very intimidating, but close behind him was Aunt Barbra with her warmth and affection to round out Uncle Tony’s rough edge. I’m not sure we as kids could have handled one without the other.
Later on I was lucky enough be part of the hunting club made up of family and many of Uncle Tony’s friends. It was a great experience to be treated as a man and a peer even if I wasn’t. I watched him hold court, dishing out the insults and taking a few all the while realizing how much he and the whole group really loved each other. It changed the way I looked at him, my father and myself. Behind all the bluster and impossible expectations, these adults had a soft side where also vulnerable and loved to have fun. It was then that I learned why it was important to look someone in the eye, have a firm handshake and what it meant to be accountable. I also learned that I was a bad poker player, my dad was better at eating than cooking, and Cousin Vinny was a great cook.
I will miss seeing and talking to my Uncle Tony but I will forever remember him and the many lessons he and my entire family have instilled in me. You were and will always be loved Uncle Tony.

My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father.
I only met Tony a few times, probably when you and your dad were deep into some project.
Through you, his business and people skills shined, but I never knew how caring he was until I found out from my cousin-in-law, Marv Bottrill, just before Marv's passing, that Tony was not just a business partner and mentor, but a true friend, helping Marv through some tough times.
I see that your Dad spent some time with Interstate Wholesale, too, another class act, as I enjoy the friendship of Fran Carr's son Dave, here in Albany, and we always talk about the good old days in the flooring business, where loyalty and service went hand in hand.
Give my best to Donna, and the family.
