Rita--Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.
Mr. DiRubbo was the only substitute I remember having. He was always so funny and kind. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. RIP
Mr. DiRubbo was a legendary substitue teacher in the North Syracuse district! He is probably one of the only ones I remember. He always made the room smell nice with his cologne and had passed on many words of wisdom. I remember him explaining to us (when we were all unruly little kids running around the classroom)- "I'm getting upset!" When we asked why he was mad, he told us, "I don't get mad, only animals go mad." haha. An odd memory I guess but he will not be forgotten! RIP
He was often my substitute teacher in Gillette. I wish I would have ran into him after I graduated to thank him for everything he taught while I was too young to realize the enormity of it. RIP Mr. Di Rubbo.
I remember Mr. DiRubbo as a substitute teacher when I attended North Syracuse Schools. He would always let me get away with chewing gum and would teach us about the importance of strong values and respect. Thank you, Mr. DiRubbo, for your teachings. May you rest in peace.
Mr. DiRubbo was my 6th grade teacher at Roxboro Elememtary in the late 60's. He was a great teacher. Rest in peace.

Those who had the privilege of sitting in Mr DiRubbo's 6th Grade class at Mattydale School, as I did in the 1950s, won't forget this man's dedication to guiding us on our journey to adulthood. He didn't just dictate facts to us and assume we were absorbing it all. He took the time to make sure we understood it all. I can think of no other way to put this: Mr. DiRubbo was the best.
Mr Dirubbo was my sixth grade teacher at Mattydale Elementary School, I believe the year was 1953. Of all the teachers I had through my schooling he remains the one that I remember the most. He could hit a baseball twice as far as the gym teacher and could easily intimitate the school bullies, but most important of all, he cared about us kids. He was my first real, live hero.
