Anthony R. "Coach" Drago's Obituary
Anthony R. “Coach” Drago, 94, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Angola, NY to the late Thomas and Josephine (Scoma) Drago. Anthony served as a corporal in the Marines and worked for many dedicated years as a physical education teacher in the Liverpool Central School District, namely at Chestnut Hill Elementary. His love of teaching and caring for children extended past school; he coached JV baseball and established and ran the Teen Club for several years. Anthony belonged to many various clubs and organizations, including the Stein Club, Arion Club, Moose Club, Elks Club, Eagles Club and the American Legion. He was also a chairman of the Town of Clay Conservative Party.
Besides his parents, Anthony is predeceased by his wife Sally in 2013 and his sisters, Marie Drago and Adrianne Schaefer.
He is survived by his children, Thomas (Florence) Drago, Deborah (Thomas) Kruger, James Drago, and SallyJo (Thomas) Delpha; grandchildren, Joseph (Adella) Drago, Steven Delpha, Sean (Caitlin) Delpha, Alyssa Delpha (James), and Tommy Kruger; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Delpha and Layla Dio Drago; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 4 – 6 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Sally in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anthony’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
