Anthony J. "Tony" Fallico's Obituary
Anthony J. “Tony” Fallico, 84, passed away Saturday at his home in Pompey surrounded by his family. Known as Tony, he was born in Syracuse to Catherine and Fortunato Fallico. He attended CBA and began working at local bakeries at age 9. He and his wife Pauline started Fremont Bakery in 1961. Truly, the Cake Boss of Central NY, his specialty was original wedding cakes and making replicas. He was in the charter class of Master Bakers of the Retail Bakers Association. Tony received the 2004 Distinguished Veteran Business award by the Onondaga County Veterans Council.
Tony served in the US Army in Korea with the Combat Engineers. This past Memorial Day, he was honored to help light the Watchfire. He was a member of K.W.V.A., John Venditti Post, I.A.C.C.,
and Pompey Lions Club.
A trip to Italy to celebrate their Retirement in 2011 completed his dream. Tony enjoyed going to cultural festivals, good food and music, and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Sam and Phil Fallico, Mary Mignacca, and Rose Finelli.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pauline; his daughters, Debbie (Drake) Gaetano, Kathleen (John) Poplawski, Annette (Michael) Krisak, and Lauriette Aiello; sons, Anthony Fallico and Mark (Erin) Fallico, and devoted friend and caretaker, Mary Buck. He was "Papa" of 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Anthony’s life at 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Church in Manlius. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
