Anthony P. "Tony" Guanciale's Obituary
Anthony P. "Tony" Guanciale, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Monday with loving family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Carmine and Angelina (Garzone) Guanciale. Tony served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He has been retired for over 20 years from Knodel's Wholesale Meats. Tony was a former member of the Italian-American Athletic Club and the Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1276, John Vendetti Post #1 and Skyline Golf Club. Tony was an avid NFL fan and loved SU football. He also thoroughly enjoyed cigars, playing cards and golfing, whenever Mary needed to find him, she just had to look on the golf course.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Valerio. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary (Alessi) Guanciale; two sons, Richard (daughter-in-law Mary), Mark (daughter-in-law Kathi); a daughter, Joanne Dunn; nine grandchildren, Anne, Jennifer, Kimberly, Michael, Nicholas, Kelsey, Danielle, Rachel and Sean along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 9:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
