Anthony Ianno's Obituary
Anthony Ianno, 88, of North Syracuse, passed away on Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in San Giovanni Reggio Calabria Italy and resided in the Syracuse area since 1936. Anthony served with the US Army during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Anthony Ianno Apples and then Tony and Grace's Farm Stand, Rt. 31 and Rt. 57. Anthony was a member of the Italian American Athletic Club, the Lion's Club and the VFW Post 951. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Grace (Calabro) Ianno; children, Pasqualina "Patti" (Ron) VanTassel of Cicero, Domenick (Tawnya) Ianno of Liverpool, Caterina "Cathie" (Stephen) Whitacre of North Syracuse; 9 grandchildren, Anthony James Ianno, Alex VanTassel, Jacob and Jeremy Ianno, Christian Whitacre, Christopher and Domenick Ianno, Kellen Whitacre and Natalina VanTassel; brother, Victor (Cecile) Ianno Sr. of Camillus; 3 sisters, Carmella (Joseph) Mento of East Syracuse, Celestina Spinella of Cicero and Angela (Dominick) Frontale of Liverpool; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 9 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm.
