Anthony J. Marra's Obituary
Anthony J. Marra, 90, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. A life resident of Syracuse, he attended Eastwood High School, played semi-pro football, and coached Pop Warner football for the ESM Eagles for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Anthony was employed with Bimbo Bakeries, formerly Stroehmann Bakeries, as the Fleet Manager, before retiring in 2000. He was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church.
Anthony is survived by two daughters, Victoria Romano (Bill) of East Syracuse and Lori Marra (Gary) of Syracuse; one granddaughter, Alyssa Pidgeon (Tony) of East Syracuse; one great granddaughter, Briella Pidgeon of East Syracuse; one sister, MaryAnn Cerio of East Syracuse; and one brother, Frank Marra of East Syracuse; as well as several nieces and nephews. Anthony is predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Anita, and his parents Frank and Anne Marra.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Anthony’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates St., East Syracuse, with an entombment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at THOMAS J PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY 13212.
