Anthony Vito Melfi Sr.'s Obituary
Anthony Vito Melfi Sr., 80, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at Loretto Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Anthony was employed with Rockwell International (Porter Cable) for many years. He was a charter member and treasurer with Fuoco's Athletic Club for more than 30 years. Anthony was an avid New York Yankees fan and Syracuse Orange basketball and football season ticket holder for more than 40 years. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Donna Melfi; two sons, Anthony Vito (Regina) Melfi Jr. of Millbury, MA and Jaime Melfi of Liverpool; five grandchildren, Luca, Ronan and Nina of Millbury MA; Joseph and Jessica of Liverpool; brother, Joseph (Henrietta) Melfi of Liverpool; two sisters, Lucy (Nick) Vecchiarelli of Syracuse and Virginia Albanese of East Syracuse; four nieces, six nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of CNY. Anthony's family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Loretto Fahey, 4th floor for all their kindness while Tony was in their care.
