Anthony "Tony" Tirinato's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Tirinato, 93, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 2, 2015. He was born in Satriano, Italy and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. For many years, Tony owned and operated Shoppingtown Shoe Service, currently operating as Dewitt Shoe Repair. He also previously owned four other shoe stores locally. Tony was a communicant and volunteered at Holy Cross Church for many years. He was an accomplished gardener, sausage maker, as well as an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and foraging for wild mushrooms.
He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Marianna (Scutier) Tirinato and his wife of 66 years, Jean S. Tirinato in 2013.
Anthony is survived by his children, Marion Brillati of Kingman, AZ, Josephine (Ronald) Rabideau of Dewitt, Theodore Tirinato of Syracuse, Jeanette (Nicholas) Castrello of Dewitt and Dominic (Deanna) Tirinato of Dewitt; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, cousins and companion, Ruth Caterham.
Funeral services will be held at a 9:00AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Tony’s life at 10:00AM at Holy Cross Church, Dewitt. Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse, NY.
