Anthony F. Verone Sr.'s Obituary
Anthony F. Verone, Sr., 79, of Syracuse passed away on Friday surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 23, 1930 in Carbondale, PA. He attended North High School and proudly served our country as a veteran of the Korean War. Tony was employed with Sorbello's Fruitland Market then Nojaims IGA. Tony loved to travel with his family and friends, especially to Saratoga with his wife and sons, and loved his three grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Edie. He was an IAAC Member, Italian American Veteran, a Syracuse sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards. He was predeceased by his wife Mary N. (Sorbello) Verone in 2007, his parents, Diaga and Gregorio Verone and brothers, Gregory and Michael Verone. He is survived by his two sons, John (Edie) Verone and Anthony F. Verone, Jr., both of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Christina, Christopher and Alexis Verone; his brothers, John, Jack and Joe Verone; sister, Josie Augello; several nieces, nephews, cousins; godson Albert Verone and goddaughter Lisa Vigliotti-Bane. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 12:00 noon in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the nurses and aids at James Square 1 South and Crouse Hospital 7 Memorial who cared for Tony during his time of need.
