Antoinette (Ianniello) Keegan's Obituary
Antoinette (Ianniello) Keegan, 96 of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Maddaloni, Italy to the late Michael and Maria (Pollastro) Ianniello. She immigrated to New York City as a child. At the age of 14, they moved to Syracuse, NY. While living in Syracuse, she grew up with her close Pollastro cousins, who were an important part of her life.
She was married to Donald for 65 years. The two enjoyed going on cruises and spent several retirement years in Florida. They enjoyed attending local Broadway shows together.
Her only daughter, Donna, was her pride and joy. She was grateful for their special bond over the years. Antoinette frequented her three granddaughters’ activities while watching them grow up: including dance recitals, athletic events, and musicals. She was proud of them throughout every milestone from graduating preschool to committing to their lifetime careers. She always put her family first. She also enjoyed her visits from her granddaughter’s dog, Luca.
She enjoyed working for several years cooking and serving students in the Henninger High School cafeteria.
She carried on her Italian heritage by sharing her love for cooking and family traditions to her daughter and granddaughters. She made holidays special with traditions such as the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve and Sunday afternoon dinners. Her granddaughters will remember pizza fritte for breakfast at camp.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Donald in 2019, one sister, Rose Vito, and her younger brother, Andrew Ianniello, who passed unexpectedly just a day before Antoinette.
Antoinette is survived by her daughter Donna (Michael) Ludovico, three granddaughters Lauren, Alexis and Regina Ludovico, sisters-in-law Mary Keegan and Brenda Ianniello, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, in St. Daniel Church, 3004 Court Street, Syracuse, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Antoinette’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum.
