Antonietta V. Zingaro's Obituary
Antonietta Vita (Lisi) Zingaro, "Nonna", 90, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on August 10th.
Antonietta was born February 10, 1924 in Utica, NY and at age 6 moved to Taranto, Italy where in 1947 she married the love of her life Giuseppe Zingaro and moved to Milano, Italy where she lovingly raised her three children. In 1968 Antonietta moved with her family to Syracuse, NY to begin a new life in America.
She was the beloved wife of Giuseppe Zingaro for over 48 years when he passed away in 1995, and they will now be together once again to look into each other’s eyes and dance under the stars like they did back in Taranto.
Antonietta’s three surviving children Michael (Marie) Zingaro, Isabella (Saverio) Arezzo and Mario (Karen) Zingaro will forever carry on her traditions and spirit, ensuring her legacy lives on through the hearts and lives of her grandchildren and ever growing number of great-grandchildren. Antonietta will also forever be remembered by her brothers Joseph Lisi, Gaetano Lisi and Frank Lisi who preceded her in passing and her surviving siblings John Lisi, Alex Lisi and sister Anna Marturano.
"Nonna's" incredible and unwavering ability to care, nourish and nurture is what she will be remembered for most, always selflessly caring for her siblings, her children, grandchildren and in recent years even her great-grandchildren. Her reputation to nourish the soul of anyone who passed through her door was well known, creating delicious Italian masterpieces and cookies beyond compare....lovingly smiling and making you feel special all the while. "Nonna" undoubtedly proved that amazing things come in small packages and while small in stature, her heart was so immense it was as though an embrace from her healed you.
Although she has passed on to be reunited with her love Giuseppe, and her presence will be painfully missed, her soul and spirit will live on for generations in the hearts and lives of those she touched, and through what was her greatest accomplishment...her family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 VICKERY RD. (corner of buckley) followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St Rose of Lima Church. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 12th, between 4:00pm and 7:00PM at the Funeral Home, 3401 Vickery Road, N.Syracuse, NY.
