Antonina "Nina" (Emmi) LaRosa's Obituary
Antonina “Nina” (Emmi) La Rosa, 77, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long difficult courageous battle with heart disease. She was born in Linguaglossa, Sicily, the daughter of the late Paolo and Maria (Ragusa) Emmi. She moved to Syracuse in 1956. Nina was employed with Julius Resnick Pocketbook Factory, Syracuse China and retired from Van Duyn Home & Hospital in 2000. She was an excellent cook and often cooked with her grandchildren and loved singing Classic Sicilian songs with them. Her favorite shows to watch were variety of food networks, games and Lawrence Welk. Nina loved socializing with family and friends, so fun to be around especially with her great sense of humor and hearty laugh.
Nina is survived by her husband of 54 years, Salvatore La Rosa; daughter, Linda (Milad) Rawda of Cicero and son, Gino La Rosa of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Gabriella and Giorgio; three sisters, Angela (Mario) La Rosa of Liverpool, Maria (John) Giamartino of Manlius and Carmela (George) Brocco of Raleigh, NC, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nina’s daughter Linda would like to express a special heartfelt thank you to the entire compassionate, dedicated staff of St. Joseph’s Home Care Agency, Teams 1 and 4, Franciscan Home Health Aides, VNA Options and Patient Care Units, 1-4 and 1-5 of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Dr. Dennis Nave. Also Desta Anthony, NP of Mobile Med.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Nina’s life at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
