Antonio "Tony" Barbuto's Obituary
Antonio "Tony" Barbuto, 75, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday October 23, 2013. He was born in Italy, the son of the late Ambrogio and Claudia (Forzini) Barbuto. Tony immigrated to the United States with his family in 1970. He was employed in the construction industry and a member of Local Laborers Union 333 for 20 years. Tony was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed playing bocce, playing cards and traveling to various casino's. Tony looked forward to family picnics and cherished his time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Giovanna (Santaguida) Barbuto; five children, Teresina (Mark) DeSalvo of Cicero, Gino (Karen) Barbuto of East Syracuse, Ted Barbuto of Liverpool, Stella (John) Penizotto of Liverpool and Grace (George) Goncalves of Long Island; ten grandchildren, Anthony, Jason, Stephen, Marisa, Jeremy, Cody, Alyssa, Peter, Alexis and Madison; two sisters, Rosa Santaguida of Italy and Raffaella (John) Failla of Mattydale; four brothers, Theodore (Carmella) Barbuto of Syracuse, Frank (Cathy) Barbuto of Liverpool, Dominick Barbuto of Syracuse and John (Heidi) Barbuto of Syracuse; brother-in-law, Giuseppe (Angela) Santaguida of North Syracuse; sister-in-law, Concetta (Vito) Vespari of Liverpool; several in-laws of Italy; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart Of Mary Church, where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.
