Antonio Bianchetti's Obituary
Antonio Bianchetti, 92, of Liverpool, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was born in the central Italian village of Roccamontepiano to the late Alberto and Margherita (Belli) Bianchetti and served in the Alpini, Italy’s famous Mountain Infantry. Antonio immigrated first to Toronto, following in the footsteps of his beloved sister and brother-in-law Elena and Alessandro Canale. A chance visit to Syracuse in 1959 led to the introduction of a fellow young immigrant, Mary L. Cieri, and a marriage of 62 years followed.
Antonio retired from New Process Gear. He was a United Auto Worker (Local 624), a fourth degree Knight of Columbus (Council 5398), a Son of Italy (Progresso Lodge #1047), and a member of the St. John’s Golden Agers and the Town of Salina Seniors Club. Antonio was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament and Immaculate Heart of Mary churches. He enjoyed singing, traveling, gardening, watching soccer and drinking espresso and homemade wine.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his five siblings, Maria, Iolanda, Nina, Ernesto, and Elena.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Mary “Maria” (Cieri) Bianchetti; his son, Alberto (Rosemary) Bianchetti; his daughters, Margherita (Tim) Ryan and Iolanda (Mark) Cooper; his six grandchildren, Maria Teresa, Grace, Anthony, Nina, Gianpaul, and Katherine; along with several nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Antonio’s life at 10:30 A.M. in Epiphany Parish - Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Ave., Liverpool. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North
