Antonio "Tony" Scafidi's Obituary
Antonio “Tony” Scafidi, 80, of Mexico, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sicily, Italy. Tony served with the U.S. Army in his early 20’s and retired from the City of Syracuse Water Department after 38 years of service. He took great pride in his grandchildren as well as his antique Chevy Impala, also known as “The Green Missile”.
He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Teresa Scafidi and brother, Salvatore “Sam” Scafidi.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa (Marino) Scafidi; his children, Salvatore (Jennifer) Scafidi, Mary Louisa (Jeff) Kowalski, and Joseph Scafidi; his four grandchildren, Lacey and Nova Kowalski and Ava and Antonio Scafidi; sister-in-law, Joan Scafidi.
A funeral mass in celebration of Antonio’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
