Antonio "Tony" Tamilia's Obituary
Antonio “Tony” Tamilia, 82, of Liverpool, passed away Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ripabottoni, Italy, and resided in Canada and then the United States for over 55 years. Tony worked for 15 years as a welder with Allied Chemical and then worked for over 10 years with the NYS Thruway Authority. He was a master carpenter and craftsman who worked well with his hands. Tony enjoyed gardening and making wine and loved telling stories about the “Old Country”. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his son, Pietro Tamilia and his sister, Palmina Mastandrea. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maria G. Tamilia; three daughters, Andrea Tamilia, Michelle (David) Emore and Anna Pignatti; two grandsons, David (Amanda) and Nicholas; two granddaughters, Ashley (Toby) Wells and Corina; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Elaina and Savannah, and his brother, Nicholas Tamilia.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Antonio’s life at 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
