Arlene (O'Brien) Lawless' Obituary
Arlene (O'Brien) Lawless, age 90, of North Syracuse, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Crouse Hospital. She was born on March 23, 1924 in Syracuse, NY the daughter of the late John and Caroline O'Brien. Arlene was a parishioner of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former Navy Women, and served as a Yeoman in the WAVES during WWII and was a member of WAVES National. Arlene also belonged to TOPS Unit 80 and was one of the original members of the Salt City Blues.
She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert T. Lawless; three sisters, Helen Johnson, Alice Tindall and Carolyn Miller. Arlene is survived by her son, Michael (Susan) Lawless of Ft. Wayne, IN; two daughters, Mary Lawless of North Syracuse and Lauren (Paul) Zumpano of Liverpool; five grandchildren, Sean (Jaime) Lawless, Shannon (Justin) Allen, Michelle (Brian) Sheldon, Paul and James Zumpano; five great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Arlene's life at 10:00 am in St. Margaret's Church. Burial with military honors will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
