Arnold J. "Arnie" Gozzi, Sr.'s Obituary
Arnold J. “Arnie” Gozzi, Sr., 87, of Solvay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. He was born on March 1, 1936, in Syracuse to the late Natale and Margarita Gozzi. Arnie was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force with the 174th Division. His career started at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company; he then went on to work at Solvay Bank, retiring as Vice President. Arnie was a longtime member of St. Cecilia’s Church. He was an avid tennis player and golfer and loved traveling the world. Arnie was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife of 12 years, Mary (Contini) and his second wife of 27 years, Antoinette (Romano).
Arnie is survived by two sons, Arnold J. (Shari) Gozzi, Jr., and Steven N. (Antoniette) Gozzi; five grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Maryanne, Stevie and Tommy; his great granddaughter, Mia; his brother, Richard (Cynthia) Gozzi; his caregiver of 5 years, Yolanda Santos; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 8:30 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Arnie’s life at 9:30 am in St. Marianne Cope at St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay, NY. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Marianne Cope at St. Cecilia Church.
