Arthur Frederick Schlitter's Obituary
Arthur Frederick Schlitter, 89, of North Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2022. A Korean War veteran, Arthur served in United States Navy before joining American Airlines, staying with the company for over forty years before retiring as a Crew Chief.
Arthur was a devout Catholic, a member of the St. Rose of Lima Men’s Group, and co-founder of the St. Rose of Lima Garden Club. In addition to his faith, Arthur was a passionate gardener, reader, and donor to many charitable causes including The Special Olympics, Cleft Lip & Palate Association, Alzheimer’s Association, The Red Cross, and more.
Arthur was preceded by his parents, Arthur and Margaret (Reyer) Schlitter; wife, Eleanor (Zawadzki); sister, Margaret Hildebrandt; and brother, Bill Schlitter.
Surviving are his children, Kathleen Palladino and Karen (John) Kunai; grandchildren, Jason Palladino, Kristen (Sean) Leary, and James (Amy) Walters; along with 5 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd, (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Church. Arthur will be laid to rest in the Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum.
